ATLANTA HAWKS FOR AN IMPRESSIVE START TO THE 08-09 SEASON. IT’S KIND OF FUNNY THAT THE HAWKS FIRST LOSS WOULD COME AT THE HANDS OF THE TEAM THAT ELIMINATED THEM FROM THE PLAYOFFS LAST SEASON…
THE WORLD CHAMPION
BOSTON CELTICS…
DESPITE HAVING THE CHAMPS DOWN BY 16 THE HAWKS, SHOWING THEIR YOUTH & INEXPERIENCE JUST COULDN’T PUT’EM AWAY.BUT HEY EVEN THE BEST GET BEAT.. IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE ME WATCH THIS CLIP OF MJ #23 LOSING TO A TOTAL SCRUB..
Do you believe in miracles??? I hope you do because through six games we are witnessing one!!!
The Atlanta Hawks are surprising the entire league by going 6-0 so far in this young season. They are playing defense like we haven’t witnessed in over 10 years.I consider myself a lifetime Hawks fan, even though the franchise has gone through some MAJOR ISSUES.. The one that hurt the most was the trade of Dominique Wilkins for Danny Manning when the Hawks looked poised to win the franchise’s first championship..Not to mention the all of the terrible draft picks that we made….Even though I know deep down in my heart that the Hawks shouldn’t have been in the playoffs last season.. Yes I said that!!! A team that only wins 38 games isn’t worthy of playoff competition.. However they shocked the world by nearly knocking the eventual champion Celtics out of the playoffs. But if you remember that final game the Hawks were completely blown out of the gym 99-65.. If you remember they went down by as many as 50 points…
Tonight will show the world whether the Atlanta Hawks are really ready to contend for the NBA Championship when they face the Celtics tonight in
Boston..
By the way did I mention the entire Hawks starting 5 is on this year’s All Star Ballot…
We are watching a great football season unfold at both the college & pro level. The most surprising thing is that it involves our teams right here in Georgia. For a change we aren’t on the outside looking in..
The 7-3 Ga. Tech Yellow Jackets are a rejuvenated program under new head coach Paul Johnson.
At 8-2 UGA continues to impress and made it back to the Top 10 in the BCS Poll.
And how about those Atlanta Falcons!!! Just this time last season the Birds looked as if the had regressed back to the 80’s. With the addition of rookie QB Matt Ryan & free agent RB Michael Turner, the Falcons look worthy enough to be mentioned as playoff contenders..
This summer I had dreams of celebrating the Dawgs first national title since the early 80’s of Herschel, Buck, & Lindsey. However I now have to wait another season to see it.. First the Dawgs got dismantled by the Crimson Tide of Alabama but, being a true Dawgs fan I wasn’t worried because a one loss SEC team can still go to the SEC championship & play for the title as LSU did last year… But what happened on yesterday really lets me know that the Dawgs just aren’t ready for the championship or maybe the schedule makers did this on purpose.. First of all I give them credit, they just beat a very solid LSU program last weekend in Baton Rouge (after all they are the defending champs) but to turn around the very next week & have to play the Florida Gators is kind of suspect. There is no team in the country that could play the 2 of the best teams in the nation & win them both back to back..
My heart is heavy America!!!!
Turnover after turnover, punt after punt.. This isn’t the team Bulldog Nation expected.. One thing is for sure this year NO SEC CHAMPIONSHIP ,which means NO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!
Message to MARK RICHT: We looked like Gator bait yesterday…
Oh by the way did I mention that GT defeated FSU on the flat of Bobby Dodd yesterday???
Could we have a Tech upset of Georgia in the UGA/GT matchup in a few weeks???
Congrats to the city of Philadelphia for finally ending their title drought!!! The organization is 1st class and they deserve this championship, the great city of Philly deserves the title, for that matter the National League deserves this title..
Mark my words you are looking at the next Sam Bowie!!! Sam Bowie you ask?? Yes! Sam I am. Just in case you have no idea who I’m talking about, he was the guy that the Portland Trail Blazers selected with the #2 pick right ahead of the Chicago Bulls who picked MJ at #3 in the 1984 NBA draft…
Bowie was a bust from the word GO & if you don’t know who he is it’s because he was that insignificant to the league.
Of course everyone one knows what Chicago accomplished with that #3 pick…
6 championships & the greatest to ever play the game!!!
Now 24 years later we have Greg Oden, he was the #1 draft pick last season & guess who drafted him??
Yep you guessed it the Portland Trail Blazers!!!
Oden missed the entire season last year & now he has been sidelined for the next 2-4 weeks with a sprained ankle the he suffered in Portland’s season opener Tuesday.
I wonder if the Blazers management wish they would’ve picked Kevin Durant or
Al Horford, both of which are major contributors to their respective teams
I give him 5-6 more seasons & he will probably be out of the league or no longer considered valuable enough to be a starter.
Well hopefully today we can get game five of the World Series completed… No matter if the Phillies win the title or the Rays manage to stay alive, I’m really pissed that I have to watch Barack Obama’s infomercial while the baseball world holds their breath. I’m like come on Brother Obama do we really have to listen to you say the same the thing over & over for 30 mins??
I’ve already given you my vote dude!!! (I early voted!!)
Lots of people are coming down on me around the office for feeling like this but seriously if Game 5 wasn’t on pause in the bottom of the 6th tied 2-2, I might not have a problem with it because it was scheduled to take place today before Game 6 if necessary, however, I feel as if the network should have moved it to yesterday(Tuesday) or tomorrow(Thursday) due to the circumstances of Game 5…
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME A PRESIDENT OR PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFUL WAS ALLOWED TO INTERUPT THE SUPER BOWL??
I can remember the day it all happened. The date was October 3, 1995. My band director Don P. Roberts made us to watch the O.J. Simpson verdict… Remember this:
That was a very historic day & 13 years to the date this happened:
Call it payback or karma… But I’ll call it being very stupid. What made O.J. think he was above the law?? Was it because he forgot that no matter how many white women he slept with, he’s still a black man? Was it because he thought his celebrity status would get him off again?? Or could it be because he’s just as crazy as they said he was back during the murder trial?
I’ll let you make that call!!
Congrats to the Dirty Birds.. 1st year coach Mike Smith has the team looking like they are ready to be contenders, however they will have to win more than 1 road game!! Matt Ryan looks as cool as the other side of the pillow & so does
Michael Turner & Roddy White.
When are the other recievers gonna step up & play ball??
Speaking of the Birds here is the ”dirtiest bird of them all” remember this:
This is the time of the year that true sports fans love… The MLB playoffs, Fall Classic, College & NFL action, plus the NBA is getting tuned up for the regular season…
As a true Braves fan I know the excitement that is the MLB Playoffs. I remember 14 years straight staying up past midnight just to my sure that my beloved Braves got the job done. This is when you really find out who your clutch players are. I can never forget the heros of those 14 years.. Pendleton, Bream, Glavine, Maddux, Smoltzy, Cabrera, Pena, a young Andruw Jones, & our very own Mr. October David Justice.
In 1995 it was Glavine & Justice that led the Braves to this city’s only major championship.
My question is who will emerge as this years Mr. October ???
WTF?? Former Pro Bowl running back Travis Henry was arrested Tuesday on federal cocaine charges. He was apprehended after an alleged multi-kilogram transaction in Colorado.
This is the same guy that borrowed money from his former team to pay child support for his nine kids by nine women & then spent it… Wow!!!
Finally the numbers are in.. 50+ million people tuned in to watch the Georgia/Alabama game Saturday. Even when the Dawgs were down 31-0 all 50+ stayed tuned in.
The Raiders fired head coach Lane Kiffin yesterday.Team owner Al Davis said he dismissed the second-year coach with cause after warning him about repeated negative comments to the media.Kiffin was just 5-and-15.Offensive line coach Tim Cable takes over.
Is there a coach that can make it more than 2-years under the ownership of Mr.Crypt Davis, my mistake Mr. Al Davis???
Answer: No… Any coach that takes this job is an idiot..
The MLB playoffs kick off today after last nights one game playoff that saw the White Sox defeat the Twins to claim the AL Central Title.
In the National League:
The NL wild card Brewers face the NL East champion Phillies in
Philadelphia, and the NL West champion Dodgers take on the NL Central champion Cubs at Wrigley Field.
In the American League:
The World Series champion Red Sox travel to Anaheim to take on the AL West champion Angels, and the AL Central champion Chicago White Sox take on the Tampa Bay Rays..
Can you imagine an all Chicago World Series??
The WNBA finals kick off tonight with the Detroit Shock & San Antonio Silver Stars.. Since the city of Atlanta was awarded a WNBA franchise, I have become a fan.. Even though the Atlanta Dream won only 4 games, you’ve gotta respect their hustle.. The hard play from Ivory Latta & Betty Lennox should make them fixtures in this organization for years to come. If you have never been a part of the WNBA experience I seriously advise you to try it… As a sports junkie all it took for me was to see Candace Parker dunk in a game to make me realize that GIRLS HAVE GAME TOO…
Oh how sports fans of the city of Atlanta yearn for days of old.
Well maybe not days of old but definitely days of recent memory..
In today’s AJC 1st year Braves GM Frank Wren says 90 loses is not acceptable for the Atlanta ball club who won 14 straight division titles beginning in 1991. Now the team formerly known as America’s Team is looking to revive those old winning ways & they’re starting right at the heart of the team… PITCHING!!!!
The Braves once had the most feared pitching rotation in the history of the league, when you think of names like Glavine, Smoltz, Maddux, Avery, Neagle, Pena, Bedrosian, & Wohlers you’ve to ask yourself how did we get away from what made us the envy of the league for over 14 seasons?? Well I can sum it up for those of you that have no clue…. Ownership… Bottom line..
When Ted Turner owned the club spending money for quality players was nothing… He sold out to Time Warner who knew absolutely nothing about running a professional sports team & the proof is in the pudding…
We now have another new owner Liberty Media who seems to understand in order to win in this league you’ve got to spend money!!!! Next season expect the Braves payroll to expand from 92 million this season to 100 million next season…
Oh by the way did I mention the Braves are in the hunt for 2 dominant starting pitchers & a power hitting outfielder???
